Dr. Joseph Michael O'Hara

Dr. Joseph O'HaraDr. O'Hara grew up in Southern California where from an early age he had a love for animals and medicine. He made the decision to combine those two passions and study veterinary medicine. He attended the University of California San Diego where he received a Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience and started veterinary school at St. George's University in Grenada before transferring to Oregon State University (he remains an Oregon State Beaver fan.)

After receiving his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. O'Hara worked in West Texas. While he enjoyed his work in West Texas, "The Livable Forest" offers him something West Texas could not – trees! And Northpark Animal Hospital affords him the opportunity to work in a hospital committed to excellence, with the ability to utilize advanced technology and diagnostics when needed.

Dr. O'Hara's quiet, calm demeanor and gentle handling is a big hit with the pets that visit Northpark Animal Hospital. Pet owners discover that their nervous animals do very well with Dr. O'Hara. In his spare time, Dr. O'Hara likes to fish and swim, and he enjoys spending time with his family and two great dogs, Boondock and Davy.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.—Mahatma Gandhi

Lagniappe, Hospital Dog

Dr. Loree W. HebertLagniappe is the name of Dr. Hebert’s 12-year-old yellow lab that spends each day at the animal hospital greeting new clients, demonstrating good animal behavior, and socializing with animals that come in. His portrait, a gift from the staff of Northpark Animal Hospital, hangs in the lobby.

The word lagniappe is Cajun and means a little something extra. A special name for a special pet, it brings alive the quality of services and personal care we strive to provide at Northpark Animal Hospital.
